High Iron Content For Maximum Benefit!

Iron is part of hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying component of the blood. Iron-deficient people tire easily in part because their bodies are starved for oxygen. Iron is also part of myoglobin, which helps muscle cells store oxygen. Without enough iron, ATP (the fuel the body runs on) cannot be properly synthesized. As a result, some iron-deficient people become fatigued even when their hemoglobin levels are normal (i.e., when they are not anemic).

Although iron is part of the antioxidant enzyme catalase, iron is not generally considered an antioxidant, because too much iron can cause oxidative damage.

Vegetarians eat less iron than non-vegetarians, and the iron they eat is somewhat less absorbable. As a result, vegetarians are more likely to have reduced iron stores. However, iron deficiency is not usually caused by a lack of iron in the diet alone. An underlying cause, such as iron loss in menstrual blood, often exists.

Pregnant women, marathon runners, people who take aspirin, and others are likely to become deficient.

      I had gastric by pass surgery about 6 years ago. Of course, the doctors want you to maintain your health and your vitamin and mineral levels so you don't have complications. So, I take vitamins and minerals everyday and will have to do so the rest of my life. I need something easy and effective, that would work with my new digestive system. The iron the doctor suggested I take upset my stomach and left me feeling tired and ill. My future husband read up on the subject and found that iron from a plant based source was easier for the body to assimilate and use. I tried them and after just a week I could feel and see a difference in my stomach and my energy/health. These are great, I recommend them all the time to family and friends and they are a great value. This brand is also the only one I have found to be plant based.

      Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
